Does spirituality have a space in leadership development?
This topic will be explored through a dialogue between Robbie Macpherson and Claire Jankelson, and then open for conversation with all participants.
The kinds of questions that will be explored:
- Organisations invest in leadership development expecting a return on their investment, usually calculated in quantifiable business terms. Can spirituality therefore offer anything to organisations or is it purely an individual pursuit?
- Is it possible to engage organisations around questions of spirituality or is it too far removed from their ‘bottom line’?
- What does a leadership development program with a spiritual dimension actually look like, and what could it hope to achieve?
This event will begin with the Annual General Meeting of Spirituality, Leadership and Management Inc (SLaM Inc), from 2.00 – 2.30. The session with Robbie begins immediately after.
Bio of Robbie Macpherson: Robbie has been designing and delivering innovative, transformational leadership development programs for a diverse range of organisations, sectors and environments for well over a decade. His work has taken him to remote Indigenous communities, South Africa, Netherlands, prisons, mosques, schools, as well as the ‘top end of town’. After leaving his role as Director of Social Leadership Australia in 2011, Robbie has been working with senior police, bureaucrats, bankers, health professionals, counter-terrorist agents and community workers. Robbie is currently Director of Adaptable Leadership and Partner with Reos Partners.
